 David Yates

David studied at the Royal Forest of Dean College (Fine Art) and at the West Wales School of Art, he was awarded a B.A. Hons. in Art & Design, specialising in Sculpture. He has lived all over the world, an experienced traveller, this has given David a breadth of understanding and cosmopolitan approach to life which he combines in his sculpture.
 

Below is shown Davids contribution to the Living Art at Taurus Crafts.

Part of David's work is working with found objects - juxtaposing them to create a variety of emotions and reaction to everyday life. David also works professionally with stone, wood and bronze. He has works on permanent display in the Cardiff Bay Development and in Carmarthen and has exhibited work for the Bronze Medal Foundation, a year long travelling exhibition in Northern Europe.

 

 

 

David has worked as an artisan on stone and bronze sculptures, in a die casting foundry, and also in small mines in the Forest of Dean. A keen scout leader in Gloucestershire, David has led programmes of activities for younger people and has experience with working with people with severe to moderate learning disabilities. He is a regular contributor to workshops in carving for arts/crafts/heritage centres. Knowledgeable about types of stone and local geology.
